Outpost Zero Wiki:Admin noticeboard

From Outpost Zero Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify Administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Current Issues[edit source]

Hydra Dark as Default Skin[edit source]

Please set Hydra Dark as the default skin and disallow users from changing that. We want to focus only on the dark skin styling.

I'll need a background image that actually looks good for a dark skin; looking at the media kit I didn't see one that would work well, hence the light skin. It will also take some time to reskin the wiki (and since it's currently legible it will be lower on my list of priorities than some other wikis I manage whose skins are not legible). If you have any ideas for what the dark skin should look like that would make my job of skinning it easier. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 17:16, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
I found a screenshot that works, and CSS with the styles we prefer. After tuning everything in my user CSS, I moved it to the bottom of MediaWiki:Hydra.css starting with the comment:
/* ----- Modified skin by Nyt ----- */
I also created styles test page

Thanks for doing this. I've switched out the skins. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 19:45, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Need Extensions Installed[edit source]

Please install the following extensions:

  • Scribunto
  • MultimediaViewer
  • Loops
  • CodeEditor
  • SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi
  • Popups
  • BoilerRoom

Thanks!

I added a few more to the list and removed the links of approved extensions. --Nyt (talk) 16:22, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Enabled them all except Loops. See #Please Install Extensions for that. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 18:01, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

Please Install Extensions[edit source]

I can't continue forward with the wiki until the following extensions are installed:

  • Scribunto
  • MultimediaViewer
  • Loops

It's been almost 2 weeks since I requested these above, but these 3 are prohibitive of getting our data driven infoboxes and tables functional for the wiki. We have a planned event this weekend, and would like to get the wiki ready for new players and streamers. Thanks! --Nyt (talk) 15:59, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Why is Loops needed if Scribunto is installed? I'll install the other two but I'm hesitant about Loops, because it's not very performant and seems redundant. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 17:55, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Scribunto adds the functionality in the module level, Loops adds multiple arg processing (e.g. arg1, arg2, arg3) at the template level. If loops is too big of a hit, I can just use modules for everything. --Nyt (talk) 20:22, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
I've enabled Loops. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 02:17, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Install Cargo Extension[edit source]

Could you please install the Cargo extension as well? Going to try using that instead of Lua arrays. Thanks! --Nyt (talk) 16:13, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
